Error description
The Optimized Local Adapters (WOLA) feature of WebSphere Application Server for z/OS cannot be used to communicate with IMS.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM WebSphere Application * * Server V7.0 * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The Optimized Local Adapters (WOLA) * * feature of WebSphere Application * * Server for z/OS cannot be used to * * communicate with IMS. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Connectivity to IMS is not provided with the Optimized Local Adapters (WOLA) feature of WebSphere Application Server for z/OS. There is no way to call an existing IMS application from WebSphere, nor is there a way to call an existing WebSphere application from within an IMS program, using the WOLA APIs.
Problem conclusion
Code was added to provide connectivity to IMS via the standard BBOA1* WOLA APIs, as well as the Java Connector Architecture (JCA) resource adapater archive (RAR) provided with WOLA. Enabling OLA support requires additional setup steps. See the articles 'Using optimized local adapters for inbound support' and 'Using optimized local adapters for outbound support' in the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS Version 7.0 Information Center. To access the latest on-line documentation, go to the library page at: http://www.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/library If you have installed the Optimized Local Adapters (OLA) feature on a previous fix pack, you must update the OLA resource adapter (RAR) after installing this fix pack. The RAR can be installed manually, or using wsadmin and the olaRarUpdate.py script. Instructions for using the olaRarUpdate.py script can be found in the WebSphere Application Server for z/OS InfoCenter. Failure to update the OLA RAR will result in message BBOA0028 being issued in the servant region when using the OLA feature. APAR PM16396 is currently targeted for inclusion in Service Level (Fix Pack) 7.0.0.12 of WebSphere Application Server V7.0. Please refer to URL: //www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=404&uid=swg27006970 for Fix Pack availability.
