Q Replication tutorial
Learn how to use the high-speed Q Replication technology to replicate data over message queues.
Learning objectives
After you complete this tutorial, you will know how to:- Create and use IBM® MQ queue managers, queues, and channels.
- Enable a Db2® database for replication.
- Set up and operate the Q Capture and Q Apply programs.
- Configure the Q Capture and Q Apply programs to use the queues.
- Create a Q subscription to map a source table to a target table.
Time required
The complete tutorial should take from 60-90 minutes to finish.- Introduction to the Q Replication tutorial
This tutorial shows you how to set up a simple Q Replication scenario: one-way or unidirectional replication between two databases. You will also learn how to create and use IBM MQ queue managers, message queues, and channels that transport the messages for replication. - Module 1: Setting up MQ
In this module, you will create all of the IBM MQ objects for replication between a source and target. You start by creating the queue managers, which manage communication on the MQ messaging system. - Module 2: Setting up Q Replication
In this module, you configure your databases and create the control tables, replication queue maps, and Q subscriptions. - Module 3: Starting Q Replication
In this module, you start the Q Capture and Q Apply programs. You started the IBM MQ channels and listeners in an earlier lesson, starting the capture and apply programs begins replicating data between the databases. - Summary and resources
In this tutorial, you learned how to use one of several types of Q Replication: unidirectional between two remote databases.
