Publishing classic rule projects to Decision Center

For business users and developers to collaborate on rule projects, you must publish the projects from Rule Designer to Decision Center.

About this task

You publish a rule project from Rule Designer to Decision Center, and then synchronize with the project in subsequent connections. Publishing and synchronizing is done one branch at a time. You should be familiar with section Branches and releases in synchronization to avoid misuse.

For publishing to work, you must run Rule Designer in the same persistence locale as Decision Center

Note:

You must have administrator rights to publish to Decision Center. If you connect without administrator rights, you get an error message in Rule Designer when you try to publish changes to project elements.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the project name in Rule Designer, and then click Decision Center > Connect.
  2. Enter the URL, user name, password, and data source that correspond to your Decision Center session.
Note: Use the /teamserver extension in the URL, even if you are using the Business console. If you do not enter a data source, the dialog uses jdbc/ilogDataSource.
  3. Click Connect to establish the connection with Decision Center.
  4. Optional: Select Filter rule elements to be synchronized using the specified query and a query from the filter list to limit the project elements that are synchronized.
  5. In the Project configuration section, select a project configuration:
    • Create a new project on Decision Center: Use if you are publishing the project for the first time.

    • Synchronize with the existing Decision Center project: Use if the project is already published and you are reconnecting to synchronize. You must select a project and a branch in the project.

  6. Click Finish to publish the project.

Results

If an error occurs during publishing to Decision Center, the Problems view displays a message, but the publishing completes. Publishing to Decision Center only copies the information. It does not notify Decision Center users of the changes.
