TBSM installation requirements
This topic describes the TBSM base installation requirements.
Before you can set up the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transactions integration with TBSM, you need to install these components:
- TBSM
- Netcool/OMNIbus
- Tivoli® Event Integration Facility (EIF) Probe
- Discovery Library Toolkit
- For particular TBSM versions,
install the following product updates:
- TBSM V4.2, Interim Fix 2 (or the latest cumulative interim fix that includes Interim Fix 2. See the section that follows regarding installing the latest Interim Fix.)
- TBSM V4.2.1, Fix pack 1
TBSM and Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus installation
You install TBSM and Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus using the launchpad of TBSM, or you can use the TBSM product DVD. Select the TBSM installation program. You can install the components on separate hosts.
To deploy the transactions and application integration, you need to have TBSM and Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus installed with the components and options described in Table 1.
Component | Required component options |
---|---|
Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus | OMNIbus and all of the available options for OMNIbus |
Tivoli Business Service Manager | Dashboard Server (can
be installed on a separate server from Data Server) Data Server with the Deploy Charts Services for ITM option |
For more information, see the Installation Guide at TBSM Information Center.
Tivoli Event Integration Facility (EIF) Probe
The EIF probe maps situation events from IBM Tivoli Monitoring to events for Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer. TBSM monitors the ObjectServer for events that affect service models.
You can install the EIF Probe using the launchpad of TBSM, or you can install the probe using the TBSM product DVD. Although you can install the Tivoli EIF probe on the TBSM server, you should install it on the event source server. When you install the probe on the event source server, the probe can provide a secure sockets layer (SSL) connection between itself and the TBSM server. If you decide to install the probe on the same server on which TBSM is installed, you cannot change the installation location; the probe will be installed in the $OMNIHOME\probes directory.
Discovery Library Toolkit
The Discovery Library toolkit enables TBSM to automatically build service models from Discovery Library data sources that conform to the IBM® common data model. The Discovery Library Toolkit lets you create TBSM service objects using data from Discovery Library Adaptor (DLA) books or from the IBM Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager (TADDM).
You can install the Discovery Library Toolkit using the launchpad of TBSM, or you can install the probe using the TBSM product DVD. When you install the Discovery Library Toolkit, specify the DLA option.
You also need to install the Discovery Library Toolkit service templates on the TBSM host.
On Windows systems, from the command prompt enter: %TBSM_HOME%\bin\rad_radshell < %TBSM_HOME%\install\BSM_Templates.radsh
On UNIX systems, from a command shell enter:
cat $TBSM_HOME/install/BSM_Templates.radsh | $TBSM_HOME/bin/rad_radshellDownload and install TBSM
The TBSM V4.2.0 Interim Fix 8 (4.2.0.0-TIV-BSM-IF0008) includes service template updates needed for the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transactions integration. Download the fix and install the patch according the instructions here:
