Deprecated feature:

Deprecation icon Rule Solutions for Office (RSO) is deprecated in V8.8.1. This feature will be removed in a future release of the product. See Deprecated features for migration details.

The RuleDoc pane lists the action rules and ruleflows in the current RuleDoc, along with their properties. Use the RuleDoc pane to view and edit the properties.

To open or close the RuleDoc pane, click the Rules tab, and in the View group, click RuleDoc Pane.

The RuleDoc pane has the following sections:

To expand or collapse a section of the RuleDoc pane, click the Expand/Collapse button next to the title of the section.

The RuleDoc pane is usually docked to the main document window. To move the RuleDoc pane, place your pointer over the title bar of the pane, and then drag the pane to another position. As the pointer approaches a side of the main program window, the pane docks to that side. To prevent docking, hold down Ctrl as you drag the pane toward a side.

Decision Center

Use the Decision Center section of the RuleDoc pane to view the Decision Center URL and user ID associated with the editing session. Click Open server site in browser to access the Decision Center sign-in page.

RuleDoc Outline

Use the RuleDoc Outline section of the RuleDoc pane to view and select rules and ruleflows in a RuleDoc.

To select a rule, click its name in the RuleDoc Outline list. The Rule Properties list shows the properties of the selected rule.

By default, the RuleDoc Outline displays only the name of each rule. To list additional rule properties, click Show Details button Show Details, and select additional columns to display.

Click the header of any column to sort the list by that column. Click a second time to reverse the sort order. To return to the default sort order, click Sort rules button Sort rules according to their position in the document.

Rule Properties

In the Rule Properties section of the RuleDoc pane, you can view and edit the properties of the currently selected rule or ruleflow.

Note: You cannot modify a rule property if it is grayed out in the list.

In the Rule Properties section of the RuleDoc pane, you can view and edit the following:

  • Authoring properties: name of the rule or ruleflow, the author, and the date the rule was last modified.

  • Execution properties: order of execution by priority

  • Management properties: custom properties defined in your Business Rule Management System, including the expiration date of the rule, the line of business to which it applies, and its status.

To edit the value of a property, you can do any of the following:

  • Type a value directly into the value column in the Rule Properties list.

  • Select a value from the list of proposed preset options.

  • Use the dialog box that is provided for some properties.

If you have inserted a rule property into your RuleDoc, you can also edit its value directly in the document.

The following table describes the editing commands.

Click an error in the Problem List to select the corresponding error in the document. Double-click an error to select it in the document.
