If you have multiple repositories or instances of the IBM® Content
Navigator web client in your environment,
you can export your teamspace templates to a file that you can then
import to another repository or instance of IBM Content
Navigator.
Before you begin
It is recommended that you migrate the classes,
searches, documents, and folders that are referenced by the teamspace
templates prior to migrating the templates to the target repository.
If you decide to migrate these assets, see the
FileNet® Deployment
Manager documentation for more
information.
About this task
Restriction: To migrate a teamspace template
from one repository to another, both repositories must be the same
type and at the same release level:
- You cannot migrate a teamspace template between an IBM FileNet Content Manager repository and an IBM Content
Manager repository.
- You cannot migrate a teamspace template between an IBM FileNet Content Manager Version 5.1 repository
and an IBM FileNet Content Manager Version
5.2 repository.
Because the source repository and the target repository
are different, not all of the classes, searches, documents, and folders
that are included in the template are available on the target repository.
You must review and validate the teamspace template after you import
it to determine whether you need to add new searches, classes or entry
templates, and documents or folders to the template.
Remember: You do not need to modify templates if
you used the
FileNet Deployment
Manager to
migrate the classes, searches, documents, and folders that are referenced
by the teamspace templates prior to migrating the templates.
Procedure
To migrate a teamspace template:
- Log in to web client as a user with owner permissions on
the teamspace templates that you want to export.
- Open the Teamspaces view and then
select the Templates tab.
- Select the repository from which you want to export the
teamspace templates.
- Select the templates that you want to export and click Export.
Important: If you are working on disconnected
systems, you must copy the file that is generated by the export to
the system on which you want to import the template.
- Open the repository to which you want to import the templates:
- If you want to import the templates to a repository that is
available from the same instance of IBM Content
Navigator, select the repository
from the Templates page.
- If you want to import the templates to a repository that is
on a different instance of IBM Content
Navigator,
log out of the current instance of IBM Content
Navigator, log in to the target
instance, go to the Templates tab, and select
the repository.
- Click Import.
- After the teamspace templates are imported, you must review
and validate them. Imported templates cannot be used until you validate
them because some of the searches, classes or entry templates, and
documents and folders that were included in the teamspace might not
be available on the target repository. To validate a template:
- Open a template that has a status of Requires
validation.
- Click Select Searches and review
the list of searches that were removed from the list of included searches.
If appropriate, select other searches to replace the removed items.
- Click Select Classes or Select
Entry Templates and review the list of classes or entry
templates that were removed from the list of included classes or entry
templates. If appropriate, select other classes or entry templates
to replace the removed items.
- Click Include Folders and Documents and
review the list of folders and documents that were removed from the
list of included items. If appropriate, select other folders and documents
to replace the removed items.
- Click Validate to save your changes
and validate the teamspace.
