Upgrading currently deployed Nortel CS2000 Technology Pack to GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack

You can upgrade Nortel CS2000 Technology Pack 4.3-Y or earlier to GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch 2.6.0.0 Technology Pack. The Topology Editor simplifies the task of associating UBA collectors for GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch 2.6.0.0 Technology Pack

About this task

Attention: Nortel CS2000 Technology Pack is renamed to GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch starting from 1.3-F release. Additionally, the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack contains A2 and MAS devices.
When you upgrade to GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch 2.6.0.0 Technology Pack, you must configure additional UBA collectors. For more information on mapping each device to its associated technology pack, see Before you begin upgrading a Nortel CS2000 Technology Pack to GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack.
Note: The GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch 2.6.0.0 Technology Pack introduced support for new UBA devices called MAS and A2.

Procedure

  1. Complete the pre-installation setup tasks, as described in the appropriate technology pack installation appendix provided in the 4.4.3 IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager: Installation Guide. These setup tasks describe how to download the ProvisoPackInstaller.jar file and 4.3-U and later stand-alone JAR files.
Note: Do not install the technology pack yet. You are asked to install it in STEP 10.
  2. Open the Topology Editor.
  3. Open a deployed topology (a topology.xml file).
  4. After you click Finish the topology is displayed in the Topology Editor.
  5. Load the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack pack XSD file into the existing topology by following the instructions provided in the 4.4.3 IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager: Installation Guide. After you load the XSD file for the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack, the technology packs listed in Table 1 display in the Application Packs view.

In effect, the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack is organized into seven technology packs, one for each of the supported devices. Typically, you configured a UBA Collector for each of these technology packs.

  6. Expand DataChannel <X> and right-click an existing UBA collector and click Remove.
Note: You can choose not to remove and add the UBA collectors for the following devices as there are no updates made to these devices in GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch 2.6.0.0 Technology Pack:
    • Nortel CS2K - CDR
    • Nortel CS2K - PVG
    • Nortel CS2K - SSL
  7. In the Logical view, expand DataChannel <X>.
  8. Right-click a collector, and then click Add Collector UBA. You must assign the previously existing collector number to the same device. For example if the collector number for previously existing IEMS device is 1.4, you must assign the same number for the IEMS device in the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack.
  9. Repeat steps 6 through 8 for all the devices in the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack.
  10. Upgrade the currently deployed Nortel CS2000 Technology Pack by installing the GenBand C20 Converged IP Softswitch Technology Pack, following the instructions in the installing technology packs provided IBM Tivoli Netcool Performance Manager: Pack Installation and Configuration Guide.
Note: Because there is an existing UBA collectors, you can skip the section that describes how to add UBA collectors.
