Step 2: Create Classes

The second step in classifying your search results is creating the classes into which the documents in your search collection will be organized. To identify the current stage of the auto-classification process, the Create Classes heading is highlighted when you return to the Auto-classification screen after completing step 1. Figure 1 shows the default screen that you see for this portion of the auto-classification process.

You can automatically create and populate the classes into which your documents will be organized using either of two methods:

by sampling the documents in your search collection (the default classification method) and deriving classes from those samples
by importing an existing taxonomy in XML format and creating classes based on that taxonomy.
