Dr. Peter Staar joined the IBM Research - Zurich Laboratory in July of 2015 as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Foundations of Cognitive Solutions project. The Belgium-born scientist first came to IBM Research as a summer student in 2006.

Prior to joining IBM Research, Peter was a post-doctoral researcher in Theoretical Physics and PASC (Platform for Advanced Scientific Computing) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland.

He earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics and his M.Sc. degree in Physics at ETH Zurich in 2013 and 2009, respectively, and his B.S. degree in Physics (cum laude) from the Catholic University Leuven, Belgium.

Peter has twice been a finalist for the prestigious ACM Gordon Bell award, first in 2013 for his paper entitled "Taking a Quantum Leap in Time to Solution for Simulations of High-Tc Superconductors" and then in 2015 for his paper entitled "An Extreme-Scale Implicit Solver for Complex PDEs: Highly Heterogeneous Flow in Earth Mantle."

Currently, Peter manages the "Scalable Knowledge Ingestion" group at the IBM Research - Zurich Laboratory. The group focusses on the development of technologies to ingest large corpora of technical documents and extract/explore the knowledge contained in them.

Rashik is the IBM Fellow and Vice President responsible for creating and driving IBM’s European technical strategy. His focus is on helping clients on the journey to become a cognitive enterprise leveraging Cloud, AI and IoT technologies whilst creating a dependable IT platform. Drawing on thirty-six years of practical experience in IBM, he is uniquely placed in developing strategies that are realistic and whilst providing tangible business impact. He has worked with financial, retail and manufacturing clients on IT transformation projects of all sizes. Overall, he specialises in ensuring the technical success of complex IT projects that transform business models. Some of his work is summarised in the HBR Article he co-authored - “New Patterns for Innovation” – Jan-Feb 2014.

Rashik was appointed to the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership Board and chairs the business communications group. He is helping develop the innovation strategies to accelerate growth of this £55bn marketplace.

Rashik is also IBM’s Partnership Executive for Imperial College – London. He is also an Adjunct Professor for Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Imperial College Business School and Visiting Professor to the Intelligent Systems and Networks Group at the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

Rashik was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) as part of the HRH Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday honours for his contribution to business and innovation.

Jacco is an experimental particle physicist, studying matter-antimatter differences and searching for new fundamental particles at the LHCb experiment at CERN. After studying business economics at the school for business administration and economics, Nancy studied international management and different cultures in Europe at the University of Maastricht.

After her studies Nancy did a traineeship at Ormit and after that she worked as an management consultant at Ordina for 10 years. In this position she carried out assignments for both the public and the private sector.

Thereafter Nancy chose to work for Dutch Ministry of Education where she fulfilled several roles in the field of business operations, she was also responsible director of HRM there.

In 2010 she joined Rijkswaterstaat, part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Watermanagement. For four years Nancy worked as Director of Asset and Environmental management at the division North Holland.

In 2017 Nancy made the transition to primary activity of Rijkswaterstaat. She became Director vessel traffic and water management of the main waterway infrastructure. She is responsible for the daily operation of about 450 locks and bridges in the Netherlands, vessel traffic management services, incident management and law enforcement. She is also responsible for the water management including the reporting on water quantity in times of both drought and floods. The reporting on water quality is another important goal for environmental purposes (e.g. drinking water, salinity, etc).

Being the Director vessel traffic and water management, Nancy faces future developments on digitalization in a very broad sense.

Rob Nijman MSc (1960, Amsterdam) leads and coordinates as Client Relationship Executive a large part of IBM’s Central Government business in The Netherlands. He has 30+ years of experience in the IT Industry and more than 25 years in the government sector, having had a quick start immediate after his studies as Programmer Analyst at IBM. Doing business development in the domains of “Sustainability and IT” and for the Ministry of Defense characterize the subsequent phase of his IBM career. As of 2003 Rob’s activities, both in business development and sales (leadership), concern the NL Central Government domain, in its broadest definition.

In his current role he works with all IBM units, building strong relations up to executive levels, and convert these to strong and sustainable business at NL central government. Rob has a sincere interest in how government organizations work efficiently and effectively, both separately and in their context, with many stakeholders involved, being subject to complex decision-making processes as a result of that.

As IBM representative Nijman is an “outside-in” thinker, with a keen eye on developments concerning the Information Society. Another of his priority concerns is the transformation agenda of government itself, where ICT is seen as a crucial instrument to establish a leaner and more effective public sector. He gets regular invitations to reflect, together with representatives from government, private sector and academia, on these topics. Also in publications and on social media he expresses his opinion. Rob is Vice-Chairman of the Digital Government committee of ICT industry organisation NLdigital (formerly Nederland-ICT).

IBM is involved in customs projects in Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, New Zealand, United States and more. UCC and MASP are important drivers of change for the European Union. Norbert is leading in the creation of a UCC compliant solution set which IBM uses, especially in the current implementations in NL, UK and Belgium.

With 17 years (international) experience in the field of Sales, Sales Management, Business Development and People Management he is capable & able to lead small and large teams to greater achievements.
Vincent started his career at Consul Risk Management where he worked as Manager Sales Operations EMEA and Sales Leader Nordics/UK (Consul was sold to IBM in 2007) before starting his career in IBM.
Within IBM he held various strategic roles, was responsible for sales of Cloud Software in South-West Europe, led the Tivoli&Rational - Service Management and DevOps Brand before being appointed to lead the Security Business Unit in Benelux. The Security Business Unit grew very rapidly in terms size during that 3 years and gained significant market momentum. During the last 3 years Vincent led the combined Cloud, Analytics and Cognitive Applications (Hybrid Cloud Software) division at IBM in Netherlands.

Beginning 2020 Vincent was appointed Director, IBM Cloud & Cognitive Software Benelux overseeing the entire Cloud / Software Business for IBM in Benelux and is part of the Core Leadership Team of IBM Benelux.
