Amber Mac(Arthur) started her career in San Francisco and Boston during the dot-com boom. As a strategist for Razorfish and Director of Marketing for an e-procurement software company, she spent four years in the technology start-up trenches before starting her own digital agency, AmberMac Media, Inc., in Toronto.

In 2010, she wrote the national bestselling business book Power Friending. In 2016, she co-wrote Amazon bestseller, Outsmarting Your Kids Online. In 2018, she was named one of DMZ’s 30 inspirational women making a difference in tech. In 2019, her podcast series The AI Effect won Best Technology Series.

IBM AI Ethics Global Leader

Francesca Rossi is an IBM fellow and the IBM AI Ethics Global Leader. She works at the T.J. Watson IBM Research Lab, Yorktown Heights, New York.
Prior to joining IBM, she has been a professor of computer science at the University of Padova, Italy.

Francesca’s research interests focus on artificial intelligence, specifically they include constraint reasoning, preferences, multi-agent systems, computational social choice, and collective decision making. She is also interested in ethical issues in the development and behavior of AI systems, in particular for decision support systems for group decision making. On these topics, she has published over 200 scientific articles in journals and conference proceedings, and as book chapters.

She is a fellow of both the worldwide association of AI (AAAI) and of the European one (EurAI). She has been president of IJCAI (International Joint Conference on AI), an executive councillor of AAAI, and the Editor in Chief of the Journal of AI Research.

She is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Future of Life Institute (Cambridge, USA) and a deputy director of the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence (Cambridge, UK). She is in the executive committee of the IEEE global initiative on ethical considerations on the development of autonomous and intelligent systems and she is a member of the board of directors of the Partnership on AI, where she represents IBM as one of the founding partners. She has been a member of the European Commission High Level Expert Group on AI and the general chair of the AAAI 2020 conference. She will be the AAAI president in 2022-2024.

At IBM, she is the PI in exploratory research projects, also in collaboration with MIT and RPI, on topics that range from embedding ethical principles into AI decision making to exploiting cognitive theories of human decision making to define more flexible, robust, and general AI systems. She also co-leads the internal IBM AI Ethics board, that coordinates the governance of AI ethics within the whole company.

Hillery is CTO of IBM Cloud, responsible for technical strategy for IBM's cloud-native and infrastructure offerings. Prior to this role, she served as Director of Accelerated Cognitive Infrastructure in IBM Research, leading a team doing cross-stack (hardware through software) optimization of AI workloads, producing productivity breakthroughs of 40x and greater which were transferred into IBM product offerings. Her technical interests have always been interdisciplinary, spanning from silicon technology through system software, and she has served in technical and leadership roles in memory technology, Systems for AI, and other areas. She is a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and was appointed as an IBM Fellow in 2017. Hillery is a BS, MS, and PhD graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Patrick Antoine is a seasoned tech executive who leads Digital for IBM Canada. Patrick works with clients to define their digital agenda to fortify their position for today and for tomorrow. Patrick’s team comprised of talented individuals who are ‘bi-lingual’ in Business and IT, with the objective of innovating and co-creating with clients to show them real value, from ‘concept to code’.

Key outcomes Patrick focuses on for clients include digitally reinventing themselves, enhancing enterprise agility, leading with user experience, driving business insight, increasing revenue, and optimizing their operations. His team applies exponential technologies to transform clients’ businesses at scale. Areas of focus include enterprise strategy, digital platforms (CRM, e-commerce, marketing, contact centre), digital agency, and custom app development.

Patrick has over 20 years of experience in business and operations strategy, digital strategy, and business analytics. Patrick has sold and delivered strategy and analytics engagements in a variety of industries (both private and public). Prior to his current role, Patrick was the Canada Leader for Analytics and Cognitive Process Services. Before that, Patrick was the Chief Strategy Officer for IBM’s BPO business.

Patrick has a B.S. degree from Manhattan College in Electrical Engineering and an M.B.A from Pace University. He has also completed Advanced Business Strategy and Advanced Operations Strategy executive courses at Harvard Business School and IMD. Patrick is married with three children and currently lives in Oakville, Ontario. His interests include world music, word games, running, and island hopping.
