VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.10.0 Release Notes

IBM® VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.10.0 is the major release of the IBM VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems.

New functions for VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.10.0

VM Recovery Manager DR for Power Systems Version 1.10.0 has the following new functions and updates:
  • Policy-based high availability policy-based replication(PBHA-PBR)- VM Recovery Manager DR now supports Policy-Based High Availability Policy-Based Replication (PBHA-PBR), which extends policy-based replication by integrating high availability with storage partition-based replication policies on supported IBM FlashSystem storage systems. You can configure PBHA-PBR by using storage-defined replication policies, volume groups, and storage partitions to support disaster recovery and high-availability workflows. For more information, see Policy-based high availability policy-based replication concept.
  • Workgroup priority- You can now assign priorities to Workgroups to control the order in which VM Recovery Manager HA/DR processes Workgroups during verify and move operations. Configure or modify Workgroup priorities by using the command-line interface . For more information, see Workgroup configuration example.

New functions for the VM Recovery Manager DR GUI

The VM Recovery Manager DR GUI has the following enhancements:
  • Policy-based high availability policy-based replication(PBHA-PBR)- You can now configure Policy-Based High Availability Policy-Based Replication (PBHA-PBR) by using the VM Recovery Manager DR GUI. For more information, see Working in the GUI.
  • Workgroup priority- You can now configure and modify Workgroup priorities directly from the Workgroup dashboard. Assign High, Medium, or Low priority to a Workgroup by using the Policies tab in the Edit Workgroup page. For more information, see Workgroup dashboard.

Requirements

To view the documentation in the PDF format, see the VM Recovery Manager DRVersion 1.10.0 PDF.

Man pages
The man pages for the VM Recovery Manager DR commands related to ksysmgr are provided in the ksys.main.msg.en_US.cmds fileset, the commands related to the ksysrppmgr are provided in the ksys.vmmon.rte file. To view the man pages from the command line, enter man command_name (where command_name is the name of the command). You can use the ksysmgr command to perform all VM Recovery Manager DR operations. For more information about the operations that you can perform by using the ksysmgr/ksysrppmgr command, see the ksysmgr command topic and the ksysrppmgr command topic.

KSYS efix

No KSYS eFixes are required for this release.

Limitations

PBHA-PBR support

  • Host groups and workgroups can be created only from the home site. Host group creation from the backup site is not supported.
  • VM Recovery Manager DR does not create DR target partitions or enable partition-level disaster recovery configuration on the storage system. The required storage configuration must be completed before resources are discovered.
  • The DR rehearsal operation can be initiated only from the home site.
  • Before unmanaging a disk, virtual machine, or deleting a cluster, move the associated volumes from the replicated storage volume group to another non-replicated volume group.
  • Unmanaging disk/VM is supported only from Home site.
  • Moving virtual machines between host groups or workgroups that belong to different storage partitions is not supported.
