Managing Streams

On the Instances tab, you can view details about the IBM Streams service instance, edit or delete the service instance, or manage access to the service instance.

About this task

Important: To complete this task, you must be the user that provisioned this service instance or have been assigned to the administrator role for this service instance. Granting users access to this service instance by assigning them to the administrator role applies only to the current service instance; it does not grant the user administrator permissions for other IBM Cloud Pak for Data service instances. Conversely, even if users are an Cloud Pak for Data administrator, they are not automatically authorized to manage this service instance unless they are explicitly granted administrator access to this service instance.

Procedure

To manage a service instance for Streams:

  1. From the IBM Cloud Pak for Data web user interface navigation menu, click Services > Instances.
  2. You can view the service instance details by clicking the service instance entry that you want to manage. For more information about the statuses that are displayed, see Service statuses (Streams). In addition, you can click one of the following options from the service instance options menu for the service instance that you want to manage:
    • Manage access. For more information, see Managing access to Streams.
    • Edit.
    • Delete. If the service instance uses a custom application resource template configuration map, the map is not automatically deleted when the instance is deleted. If the map is no longer needed by other instances, you can manually delete it.
Tip: You can use the Streams REST API to monitor and manage a provisioned Streams instance and the corresponding build service. You can also use a JMX API to monitor and manage the provisioned Streams instance. For more information, see Monitoring by using REST and JMX APIs (Streams).
