Importing calculated metrics from embedded Power BI reports
When you create responses to some questions in ESG frameworks, you might require environmental data or social metrics from IBM® ESG Suite. By using the Calculated Metrics feature on the response page, you can view numeric data directly from the Power BI monthly dataset and copy data into your response.
About this task
You can open an embedded Power BI report so that you can view data from the monthly dataset. This dataset is embedded in the Sustainability Reporting Manager response screen and all edits to the report persist with the response so other users, such as contributors, reviewers, or approvers, can view the same report and dataset.
The embedded report has 7 tabs:
- The Filter options tab has a selection for groups, location, data type category, data type, account style, and region.
- The Data completeness tab provides a bar chart visual to indicate now much data is actual, estimated, or accrued.
- The Emissions tab provides a breakdown of scope 1 by data type, scope 2 location-based and market-based and Scope 3 by category and data type.
- The Energy tab provides a breakdown of energy that is consumed by scope, data type category, data type, and energy produced.
- The Waste tab provides a breakdown of waste by mass and disposal route.
- The Water tab provides a breakdown of water by volume and water type.
- The Social metrics tab provides a breakdown of social metrics data summarized by available aggregation methods and a count of records.
Some frameworks and disclosure requirements provide a specialized embedded Power BI experience tailored to the reporting requirements of that framework. For example, the Simplified ESRS Omnibus framework includes a dedicated embedded Power BI report for selected climate-related disclosure requirements. To learn more, see Using the Simplified ESRS Omnibus embedded Power BI report.
Procedure
- On the Sustainability Reporting Manager home page, click the name of the disclosure to open it.
- Click a question to open the response page for the question.
- Click the Power Reports icon
in the header. You can also see the Power BI view by opening the side panel and clicking Calculated Metrics. The report takes a few moments to load as a new instance of the report is being created in Envizi ESG Suite.
What to do next
In edit mode, you can add, remove, or modify any visuals in the report. For more information, see Editing embedded Power BI reports.
