Creating work orders
A work order specifies the information about the work that must be done for an asset, a location, or a configuration item. You can add work plans, job plans, safety plans, and failure report data. You can also record actuals as the work progresses.
Procedure
- In the Work Order Tracking application, click New Work Order.
- Specify whether you are creating the work order for a location,
asset, configuration item, or general ledger account. If a selected location has a single associated asset, the asset value is copied to the record. If a selected asset is a linear asset, more fields display.
- Optional: Specify a type for the work order and the priority of the work order for scheduling purposes.
- Optional: Specify the audit and survey record.
- Specify any additional schedule information and responsibility information.
- Optional: In the associated tabs, you can specify a job plan, a safety plan,
scheduling information, and planned labor, materials, tools, and services. You can also specify
failure report data, any certifications, or regulations that are associated with the work
order. For example, on the Failure Reporting tab, you can describe the condition of equipment at the time of failure, and associate equipment failures with consequence records.You can also specify details, such as the preparation activities, the risk assessments, and the results of the tests that are associated with the verification of performance standards.
- Save the work order.
