Managing operations

You use the applications in the Operations module to maintain logs, document operating policies and procedures, and assign maintenance tasks to operations personnel.

Management of operational actions
To efficiently manage the actions that are assigned to you or to your group, across multiple applications, you can use the Operational Actions application. By using this application, you can manage all of the actions for any application for which actions are defined.
Maintaining operator logs
You can create and maintain shift logs. Shift log records contain details about shift changeovers, equipment changes, production losses, and near misses that might occur during a shift.
Maintaining log books
To relay important safety or other shift information to your personnel, you can use log books. You can group shift logs and log entries together in to a book. Shift logs that are in a log book are filtered by common attributes such as asset, location, or time.
Managing operator tasks
You use operator tasks to manage routine maintenance activities that are assigned to personnel by planning engineers. A typical operator task might be to test a standby diesel generator. The generator is controlled by operations personnel, but its test frequency is determined by maintenance personnel.
Administering operating policies
You can record the policies and operational strategies that are associated with work assets. You can associate work that is done on a work asset with the operating policy that defines the reason for that work.
Maintaining operating procedures
You use the Operating Procedures application to provide reference information about standards and procedures that are associated with operating policies and job plans. You can associate standard actions with lines in an operating procedure, and you can assign ownership to operating procedures.
