Management of operational actions
To efficiently manage the actions that are assigned to you or to your group, across multiple applications, you can use the Operational Actions application. By using this application, you can manage all of the actions for any application for which actions are defined.
For example, in the Standard Actions application, you can create and maintain actions that are used in different types of records, such as bypass management records and permit to work records. You can also add review items to actions that require specific types of responses. You can access these actions in the Operational Actions application.
The rules that apply to the actions in the originating application also apply in the Operational Actions application. For example, an action cannot be edited in the Permit to Work application because the permit to work is in a status that does not allow updates. Then, the action cannot be edited in the Operational Actions application.
You can create queries for actions, such as a query to search for all actions that were completed within a specific time period. Or you might create a query to retrieve actions that are assigned to the logged in user, and that are not completed. You can add your query to the Start Center. You can also run reports that are based on your search queries.
- Review lists of actions
- To get a list of the actions for applications, from the Application field of the Operational Actions tab, select one or more applications, and click OK.
- Add or modify actions
- To add an action or to modify an action in an application record, select the row for the application record, and click the Action Tab icon at the end of the row. The tab is shown in the originating application. You can add an existing action, or create a new action. You can also modify an existing action. After you're done, click Go To Operational Actions to return to the Operational Actions application.
- Complete actions
- To complete, and sign off that an action is complete, select the appropriate response in the Completed checkbox, and specify the completion date.
Example of using the Operational Actions application
Log in, and in the Operational Actions application, review the actions to which you are assigned. On the Operational Actions tab, four emergency actions, two MOC Pre-Start actions, and five Bypass Management Hazard Review actions need to be completed. You can quickly access each of the actions, and update their status or complete the action items.
