The Installation Process for Non-clustered Systems
The following sections contain the prerequisite information and preliminary tasks that you need to complete before installing Sterling Gentran:Server® in your non-clustered system (single workstation, single controller system, or multiple controller system). You should review these topics and complete any pre-installation tasks before using the setup program to install Sterling Gentran:Server.
The following table describes the tasks you need to complete to install Sterling Gentran:Server in your system. This is a high-level overview.

| 1 | Create and verify users. | Add any users and verify existing Microsoft Windows logons for Sterling Gentran:Server users. |
| 2 | Create the Microsoft Windows global group and add users. | Create a global group that contains all Sterling Gentran:Server users by adding the Microsoft Windows logons for Sterling Gentran:Server users to the group. |
| 3 | Create the Microsoft Windows local group and grant access to the global group. | Create a local group named GENTRANUSERS that contains the global group you created. |
| 4 | Change the local security setting. You may need to change the local security setting to ensure that services restart after installation. To do this, add Microsoft Windows user rights to the local group. | Assign to the local group the user rights that Sterling Gentran:Server requires:

| 6 | Create and share a folder for system data store. | Create the system data store folder and share it for the group of users you created. |
