Funny story: The Bare Naked Ladies are from Toronto and they are a rock band… in case you didn’t know. Before they became famous, they were booked to play in Toronto at our City Hall for some event. The mayor of Toronto at that time didn’t realize they were a band and made a huge stink about having nudity at a public event. They say that no publicity is bad publicity and I think this proves it. They became known to all in Toronto regardless if people were fans of their music!
I am a fan and was the minute I heard the song “If I had a Million Dollars”. Of course there were many other hits on that first album and I remember being at a party around the time I started working for IBM and dancing with friends to this album. A huge hit!
I love the humour in their songs and like some of the references to local sites in Toronto.
If you are attending the IBM Information on Demand Conference this year, you’ll get a chance to see the band perform live. Despite the fact that I see many concerts, this will be my first time seeing them live as well! I’m looking forward to it, very much.
They have sold over 15 million albums. Some of their award winning songs include:
"Lovers In A Dangerous Time"
They are playing at the Tuesday October 23 at The Networking Session from 7:30 – 10:30, along with One Republic.
PS… Last year we were lucky to see the band Train. I didn’t know who they were at the time, but went anyway. I did know many of their songs and am still smiling at memories of the great performance they did!
