Pinned topic Create Snapshot report using type 2 Fact Table

‏2013-07-29T13:32:36Z |

Hi All,

I have a fact thats type 2. i only insert the data into the table as a new record when there is a change in data. I have a requirement where i need to capture data as snapshot over a period of 30 days.

the report looks like this,

productivity 28-Jul 27-jul 26-jul 25-jul 24-jul 23-jul
USA 33 21 2 34 27 3
UK 3 4 7 9 12 1
CA 23 2 37 86 7 0

Rather than struggling with the raw data in the Fact table, why not ETL a snapshot to a separate table every night and then report on that table?

Thanks OpherB for responding. the tables will be too huge to work on if they are stored as snapshots

    Thanks

I'm not sure what  your reporting requiement is, but in the example you showed only three rows per day. You can aggregate to some level so the detail data will not need to be stored in the snapshot.

    Good luck,
