Getting Started with IBM Cognos Insight: A Guide for Importing Data - Part II (Source Data Exists within an IBM Cognos BI Package, IBM Cognos TM1 Server or IBM Cognos BI Report)
This is a brief blog post making you aware of the excellent resources available to you on importing data into IBM Cognos Insight where the data source is an IBM Cognos TM1 Server, IBM Cognos BI Package or IBM Cognos BI report.
One of the many great features of IBM Cognos Insight is its ability to easily import data from multiple data sources. Whether those data sources are local .csv or .txt files on your desktop or network server-based relational data files in a Microsoft Access database, or even data in an IBM Cognos BI Report or BI Package you can swiftly import and merge together these source files into a unified view for serious analysis in Cognos Insight. What's usually required to do this is an awful lot of effort to not only gain access to the data but also import it so that it's all in one consolidated or 'married' view.
But, how specifically do you in Cognos Insight import data on an IBM Cognos BI report, IBM Cognos TM1 Server or in an IBM Cognos BI Package? Very simple. The process to import this data is very similar to importing a .csv or .txt file other than you'll need to connect to that BI server to access the BI package or the BI report. Cognos Insight has the built-in connection menu to effectively walk you through accessing and importing this IBM Cognos-based data. It's analytics made simple. That's Cognos Insight!
Here's a video tutorial walking you through the steps required to import data from an IBM Cognos BI Package.
