How to launch a URL externally in context, from a DASH widget?

    BobbyJoseph 0600010AUC | | Comment (1) | Visits (12442)

Quite often we get asked from the field on different ways to easily launch external URLs from DASH. In this blog we will discuss about some of the options and look at one particular implementation in detail.   In this particular scenario, a dashboard administrator/page designer wants to launch an external URL (outside DASH, pointing to another IBM or non-IBM product) in response to the user clicking on a row in the list, table or a gauge widget. We will get the context from the widget and pass on to the external URL as query parameters.... [More]

Building a Custom Dashboard using Netcool/Impact

    dcheung 060000TN3R | | Comment (1) | Visits (8884)

I want to share with the DASH community on how we can approach building some unique custom dashboards in DASH leveraging Netcool/Impact. With the intuitiveness of DASH, combined with the simple out of box integration for Impact we can put together a custom dashboard relatively quick.  One of the challenges that we see across numerous clients is the ability to customize a list of resources. In a typical environment, a user would have a combination of Windows, Linux, and UNIX servers. Within the Tivoli Enterprise Portal we have limited... [More]

    Netcool/OMNIbus OSLC Service Provider

    Denilson Nastacio 2000000C8X | | Comment (1) | Visits (7456)

Courtesy of my colleague Chris Appleton in Netcool/OMNIbus development, there is a new video on how they designed their own OSLC Service Provider for their upcoming 7.4 FP3 release. All standard disclaimers apply about release contents not being final until formally announced, but the work is already subject to external try-outs in the Jazz for Service Management hosted beta . This video was primarily created for systems integrators who already extend Netcool/OMNIbus and want to expand that integration to enable collaboration with other OSLC... [More]

Additional media types supported by Registry Services

    LeonardoFaccioDemo 2700051T7G | | Comment (1) | Visits (5011)

Co-authored with Fernando Mariani   With Fix Pack 2, Registry Services provides support for two additional media types: JSON, an open standard based on the JavaScript language, which provides a simple human-readable syntax for representing simple data types. Turtle, designed specifically to represent data in a RDF model, is an alternative to RDF/XML which is able to define any RDF graph in a cleaner model.   How to send requests using Turtle and JSON media types   When you send an HTTP request to Registry Services, you can... Dashboarding: Using TDI with DASH

The out of the box widgets that come in Jazz for Service Management with the Dashboard Application Services Hub (DASH) are built to show data coming from a data provider.  Several products already come with a data provider that is ready to go.  However, it may be the case that you would like to show some data that is currently not being served up from a data provider.  In these cases, you can use Tivoli Directory Integrator (TDI) to make this data available to DASH.  (Impact also allows you to get other data and make it... Dashboarding: Configuring a Drilldown

    kparz 0600001PVT | | Comment (1) | Visits (5887)

A common need when building dashboards is to allow a user to click on an element in the dashboard and transition that user to another page that contains related or more detailed information about what is being clicked.  For example, clicking on a status gauge showing overall status and moving to another page that has some detailed information about that status. This kind of drilldown is configured using "wires" in DASH.  Here, I'll walk you through the basic steps of setting up a wire that will launch your drilldown... [More]

    Enabling dashboards for mobile devices

Have you tried enabling your custom dashboards for mobile devices. I get this question very frequently. Its quite simple in DASH You need to create a view in DASH and enable it for mobile.  Navigate from Settings to Views panel and create new view and make sure to check the checkbox that says "Enable for Mobile" See the screen shot below Add all the dashboards that you wish to enable to this view. Next, login into DASH from your  mobile device to try out.  Another point to keep in mind when creating dashboards... [More]

Dashboarding: Table Configuration - "No visualization attribute…"

Have you had a chance to create a dashboard using the Table widget from the DASH palette?  If so, you've seen the message that appears after you've selected your dataset that says: "No visualization attribute found for mapping to dataset columns." Here's a quick screen shot                               I've been getting a number of questions recently about this message.  Even though you might interpret this as an error, this message... Server Dashboards show percentages as 100% instead of 1%

    bogaerba 10000087KQ | | Visits (3470)

With Jazz for Service Management, there can be cases where the Server Dashboards have tables showing values of 100%, while values of 1% are being expected:   This happens when JazzSM is using the ITM data provider, up to ITM 6.3 FP5. There are some known APARs in this area, IV75571 and IV80202, both fixed with ITM 6.3 FP7. After applying FP7, this problem should be gone. If the problem is still there after FP7, then the ITMREST data provider will have to be re-registered. You can use this procedure to re-register the ITMREST data provider... [More]
