We are excited to announce the availability of IBM Cloud Service Endpoints for your databases in IBM Cloud® Hyper Protect DBaaS.
You now have the option of using private routes to connect to IBM Cloud Hyper Protect DBaaS databases to ensure enhanced control and security over your data.
What are the benefits of using private endpoints?
A Hyper Protect DBaaS service instance with a private service endpoint gets an endpoint that isn’t accessible from the public network. The benefits of using private endpoints include the following:
- Your Hyper Protect DBaaS service instance can connect to other IBM Cloud Service Endpoint-enabled products over the IBM Cloud network without requiring a routable IP address. Your workloads with sensitive data are protected from threats in the public network as your database traffic stays within the IBM Cloud network.
- Internet access is no longer a requirement for you to connect to IBM Cloud services. There are no billable or metered bandwidth charges on the private network.
How do I set up private endpoints?
You can choose between public endpoints and private endpoints when you create a service instance of IBM Cloud Hyper Protect DBaaS. With Hyper Protect DBaaS for PostgreSQL, you can choose to enable both.
To access IBM Cloud service endpoints, you need to first enable your IBM Cloud account for virtual routing and forwarding (VRF) and for connectivity to service endpoints. For detailed instructions on using the private endpoints feature, see the Hyper Protect DBaaS for MongoDB documentation or Hyper Protect DBaaS for PostgreSQL documentation.
