IBM helps MozzartBet.com combine digital innovation with a distinctly human touch
MozzartBet.com has built one of South-Eastern Europe’s leading betting businesses by combining compelling online services with a network of more than 1,000 retail betting shops, where customers don’t just place bets; they gather to watch matches, meet friends, and spend time together.
MozzartBet.com’s success has long been driven by technology. But as the business expanded across markets and channels, its VMware-centric architecture began to limit flexibility. The company’s IT leaders recognized that applications were evolving toward microservices and containers, while growing data and AI initiatives demanded a more agile platform.
To maintain its competitive edge, MozzartBet.com needed to modernize its infrastructure without sacrificing the reliability that customers expect. They needed a technology platform capable of delivering near real-time performance at the scale of a business producing approximately 250,000 betting odds across more than 1,600 events each day.
MozzartBet.com had initially relied on IBM Netezza as their data warehouse solution, then decided to modernize their data platform by adopting Red Hat® OpenShift® and IBM® Fusion HCI as the foundation for near real-time analytics, application modernization, and cloud-native development. Over time, Red Hat OpenShift evolved beyond the analytics domain and became a strategic platform for the deployment of production services and business-critical applications across the organization. The platform now supports an increasingly cloud-native development model for an organization whose technology teams include 120 developers and 30 IT engineers.
Today, IBM Fusion HCI supports:
- MozzartBet.com’s full data and analytics environment;
- Production, staging and development clusters;
- Modern containerized applications;
- Migration of workloads from VMs to containers.
The combination of Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Fusion HCI provides a consistent platform for innovation while simplifying operations and delivering built-in resilience.
IBM Fusion has become a key part of MozzartBet.com’s technology strategy:
- High availability by design helps maintain service continuity across MozzartBet.com’s online platform and approximately 1,000 retail locations across 7 markets.
- A consistent platform across development, staging and production helps teams move new applications and capabilities into production faster.
- A common Red Hat OpenShift and IBM Fusion platform gives MozzartBet.com a practical path to migrate workloads from traditional VMs to containers while continuing to support business-critical applications.
Fusion helps MozzartBet.com continue differentiating through technology that helps create a hybrid customer experience that combines digital convenience with the social atmosphere of its retail network.
Today, MozzartBet.com also uses IBM Cloud® for a number of non-critical workloads and development environments, combining on-premises and cloud resources through a hybrid cloud operating model that optimizes flexibility, scalability, regulatory requirements, and cost optimization.
