Supporting growth while modernizing mission-critical systems

JYSK is one of the world’s leading retailers of Scandinavian sleeping and living products. Part of the family-owned Lars Larsen Group, JYSK operates more than 3,600 stores across nearly 50 countries and continues to open approximately three new stores every week. The company’s logistics footprint includes 10 distribution centers, and due to its significant growth, JYSK is planning to open even more locations over the coming years. Maintaining uninterrupted operations is essential to ensuring products reach customers on time.

SAP has been at the center of JYSK’s operations for decades, supporting critical processes across procurement, supply chain management, warehouse operations, finance, HR, retail operations, and customer fulfillment. As the retailer continued its growth journey, JYSK wanted to modernize its SAP environment, move to SAP S/4HANA®, and position itself to take advantage of emerging cloud-based innovations such as AI and advanced analytics.

The company needed a cloud platform that would deliver the same levels of reliability, scalability, security and operational resilience that it had experienced for years running SAP on IBM Power infrastructure.

Choosing RISE with SAP on IBM Power Virtual Server

JYSK selected RISE with SAP running on IBM® Power® Virtual Server as the foundation for its SAP modernization strategy.

The decision was heavily influenced by the company’s long-standing experience running SAP workloads on IBM Power servers. As JYSK evaluated its cloud options, maintaining a familiar and proven architecture became a key factor in reducing migration risk. By moving to RISE with SAP on IBM Power Virtual Server, JYSK gains access to cloud innovation while preserving the proven reliability, performance, and security characteristics of the IBM Power architecture.

The approach also helps simplify the migration effort. Rather than changing both its SAP application landscape and underlying infrastructure architecture at the same time, JYSK can move to the cloud on the same IBM Power architecture used for its existing SAP environment. This helps reduce complexity and risk throughout the migration journey.
When RISE with SAP became available on IBM Power Virtual Server, it was more or less a no-brainer for us to go that direction. The reliability of that platform is something that we do not want to sacrifice. Being able to move to IBM Power Virtual Server is comforting to us and makes the project, in our opinion, much less risky and takes a lot of the complexity out of it.
