Our customers have long recognized that IBM Instana® has the best application performance monitoring (APM) observability capabilities in the industry. Now others are starting to notice too, including Gartner.
The IBM Instana platform helps users autonomously manage the most dynamic applications, whether they are running on mainframes, cloud providers or mobile phones. But what about getting a view of application performance from the outside? How can you measure your users’ perceived application performance?
Adding synthetic monitoring
We’re proud to announce we’re adding synthetic monitoring to IBM Instana to provide an outside-in view of application performance. It will aid in indicating when there are network problems between the user and back-end services. IBM Instana users will soon be able to use synthetics and topology to evaluate test coverage with recommendations for additional tests.
We’ll add the ability to test APIs and websites. Tests will be executed by IBM Instana Points of Presence (PoPs), which could be hosted from anywhere a client needs to test. For example, applications behind the firewall could be tested by a PoP in the same network zone, even for SaaS customers. IBM Instana also plans to host PoPs in various hyperscales and geographic regions.
