Watson Knowledge Studio is now Generally Available on IBM Cloud

IBM Cloud Experimental Plan and IBM Marketplace Free Plan users have until Feb 1, 2018 to switch to the new service on IBM Cloud.  Paid users have until June 29, 2018.

Watson Knowledge Studio (WKS), a powerful application that allows subject matter experts to teach Watson how to interpret specific terms in unstructured text using annotation models, is now generally available on IBM Cloud. You can now take advantage of WKS on the same IBM Cloud Platform as Watson Discovery and Watson Natural Language Understanding services. We are announcing a phased retirement of WKS on IBM Marketplace as users transition to IBM Cloud. The pricing plans for Watson Knowledge Studio will remain the same on IBM Cloud as they have been on IBM Marketplace.

When do changes take effect?

Dec 18, 2018: New WKS instances can be created only on IBM Cloud. Existing instances on IBM Marketplace will continue to be available for a limited period.

Feb 1, 2018: Existing WKS instances associated with Free Plan (IBM Marketplace) and Experimental Plan(IBM Cloud) will be removed.

Jun 29, 2018: Existing WKS instances associated with Paid Plans (IBM Marketplace) will be removed.

What should I do?

If you have a WKS Free Plan instance on IBM Marketplace or a WKS Experimental Plan instance on IBM Cloud, you must switch to the generally available WKS offering on IBM Cloud before Feb 1, 2018.

If you have a WKS Paid Plan instance on IBM Marketplace, you must switch before June 29, 2018. Month-to-month WKS subscription users on IBM Marketplace can simply sign up for the comparable WKS Standard Plan on IBM Cloud and continue to pay as you go. WKS Standard multi-month and/or WKS Premium Plan subscription users should contact IBM Sales for assistance with transitioning your subscription to IBM Cloud.

Use your existing IBM ID to create a new IBM Cloud account or use an existing IBM Cloud account to create your new WKS instance. Follow the simple migration steps here to move your content.

Why switch from IBM Marketplace to IBM Cloud?

This WKS release enables you to access and manage all the related cloud-based Watson services on the same platform with a single subscription and a unified support process. Features such as improvements with model quality evaluation, pre-annotation with Watson NLU, and a new administrative dashboard simplifying user and resource management are a few examples of new capabilities in this release. See what’s new in SingleStoreDB with IBM 8.0

3 min read - Despite decades of progress in database systems, builders have compromised on at least one of the following: speed, reliability, or ease. They have two options: one, they could get a document database that is fast and easy, but can’t be relied on for mission-critical transactional applications. Or two, they could rely on a cloud data warehouse that is easy to set up, but only allows lagging analytics. Even then, each solution lacks something, forcing builders to deploy other databases for…
