We are proud to announce PREVAIL 2021 — an IBM technical conference.

PREVAIL is a unique, follow-the-sun virtual event devoted to IT resilience, performance, security, quality testing and Site Reliability Engineering.

Resilience is a more vital topic than ever as the challenges presented by COVID-19 have pushed many organizations beyond normal concerns around DevOps, cloud adoption or Agile methodologies. Cloud-based services are in high demand and expected to be fast, secure and always-on.

To address these issues, the IBM Academy of Technology is sponsoring PREVAIL — an IBM technical conference hosted by technical people for a technical audience. It is a safe space for technical people to talk about technical topics.

Keynote speakers

While the conference timetable is still being planned (and by submitting a session you can affect it), I’d like to present some of our initial keynote speakers:

  • IBM Fellow Rashik Parmer: “Responsible Computing”
  • Microsoft Azure MVP Tiago Costa: “Azure Well-Architected Framework for Performance and Availability”
  • Berkley Professor Edward Lee: “Determinism in Modeling Distributed Software”

Register for the event

Replays of the excellent keynotes, breakout sessions, panels, workshops and posters from subject matter experts delivered on last year’s conference are still available. Check out replays of last year’s sessions here.

Submit papers

We would also like to invite you to submit papers for this year’s IBM PREVAIL 2021 event.

Speakers are welcome from within IBM, Kyndryl, IBM subsidiaries and IBM Business Partners, from Academia and also from any other organization or individual who is passionate about non-functional requirements.

As a speaker, you are invited to present a talk that covers technical aspects of any technology, method or service that is important to you and is relevant to one of the PREVAIL tracks.

The papers we are inviting you to submit are around designing, building and managing solutions that are fast, always-on and secure, using modern ways of working, technologies and compute paradigms.

The major themes are we interested in are the following:

  • Availability
  • Performance
  • Security
  • Site Reliability Engineering
  • Quality Testing

Examples of topics in these themes can include, but are not limited to:

  • Agile methods
  • Continuous integration
  • DevOps pipelines
  • Internet of Things
  • Microservices
  • Container technology
  • Cloud or hybrid cloud platforms
  • Chaos engineering

Please submit your papers here for PREVAIL 2021.

We are looking forward to seeing you — either as an attendant or a speaker.

IBM Hybrid Cloud Mesh and Red Hat Service Interconnect: A new era of app-centric connectivity

2 min read - To meet customer demands, applications are expected to be performing at their best at all times. Simultaneously, applications need to be flexible and cost effective, and therefore supported by an underlying infrastructure that is equally reliant, performant and secure as the applications themselves.   Easier said than done. According to EMA's 2024 Network Management Megatrends report only 42% of responding IT professionals would rate their network operations as successful.   In this era of hyper-distributed infrastructure where our users, apps, and data…

IBM named a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for SIEM, for the 14th consecutive time

3 min read - Security operations is getting more complex and inefficient with too many tools, too much data and simply too much to do. According to a study done by IBM, SOC team members are only able to handle half of the alerts that they should be reviewing in a typical workday. This potentially leads to missing the important alerts that are critical to an organization's security. Thus, choosing the right SIEM solution can be transformative for security teams, helping them manage alerts…

IBM and MuleSoft expand global relationship to accelerate modernization on IBM Power

2 min read - As companies undergo digital transformation, they rely on APIs as the backbone for providing new services and customer experiences. While APIs can simplify application development and deliver integrated solutions, IT shops must have a robust solution to effectively manage and govern them to ensure that response times and costs are kept low for all applications. Many customers use Salesforce’s MuleSoft, named a leader by Gartner® in full lifecycle API management for seven consecutive times, to manage and secure APIs across…
