Controlling White Space
The Chart Editor can automatically reclaim the space that was occupied by a deleted or hidden item. For example, if you delete the legend, the Chart Editor can expand the data frame to the edge of the chart and fill the space previously occupied by the legend. The Chart Editor can also allot extra space when an item is added. The Chart Editor shrinks the other items to make the space.
To turn on the feature for automatically controlling white space, follow these steps:
- If the Properties window is not already displayed,
from the menus choose:
- Click the Chart Size tab.
- Select Resize elements when new elements are added/removed.
- Click Apply.
The Chart Editor will automatically reclaim and add space for the following items. Deleting or adding any other items in the chart will not affect the available space.
