About this task

If your target system does not have a browser that is installed to support installation by using the launchpad, use the Installation Manager GUI.

Procedure

  1. Choose your preferred topology. Jazz for Service Management supports one or multiple server topologies so that you can install integration services on different servers depending on your needs. See Custom installation scenario. To silently install Jazz for Service Management integration services, its database server, application server, Tivoli Common Reporting on a single server only, use the launchpad custom workflow. See Custom installations by using launchpad custom workflow.
  2. Ensure that your target environments meet the hardware and software requirements for Jazz for Service Management and its integration services. See Hardware and software requirements.
  3. Set up a local file system for the installation images. See Setting up a local file system for a custom installation.
  4. If you want to use an alternative temporary directory when you install the integrations services, see Specifying an alternative temporary directory for installation.
  5. If you do not want to install Jazz for Service Management and its supporting middleware to the default installation locations, you must modify the Prerequisite Scanner configuration files to check whether these non-default locations have the required available disk space. See Editing default configuration files for non-default installation locations.
Attention: You do not need to modify the configuration files if you perform a custom installation by using the launchpad custom workflow.
  6. On each target Jazz for Service Management server, run Prerequisite Scanner to scan and verify that your target environment meets the hardware and software requirements for Jazz for Service Management. See Running Prerequisite Scanner by using convenience scripts.
  7. Set up DB2® on the target database server. It is required by Tivoli Common Reporting only.
  8. If you do not have a browser on the target server, you cannot use the launchpad. You can use Installation Manager.
    1. Install Installation Manager, if it is not already installed. See Installation Manager.
    2. If you use Installation Manager in GUI mode, set up the Installation Manager repositories from which the software packages are retrieved for installation. See Setting up Installation Manager repositories.

What to do next

Access and run the installation programs from your local file system and perform the custom installation. Choose which integration services to install on one or more servers. See Custom installations by using launchpad custom workflow, Custom installations by using Installation Manager, or Custom installations by using silent mode.
