APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
The Test Connection will fail when a WebSphere variable is included in the URL field of a data source. For example, suppose a WebSphere variable is defined as follows: Name: ORACLE_DB Value: WASHost1:1521:WASdatabase If the URL value on a data source includes the above variable, the Test Connection will fail because the variable will not be expanded: jdbc:oracle:thin:@${ORACLE_DB} The failure may generate the following Unknown Host error: [2/22/10 14:28:23:905 EST] 00000018 DSConfigurati 3 Exception java.sql.SQLException: Unknown host specified DSRA0010E: SQL State = 62000, Error Code = 118 at oracle.jdbc.driver.SQLStateMapping.newSQLException(SQLStateMappi ng.java:70) at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.newSQLException(DatabaseError.j ava:133) at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError .java:199) at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError .java:480) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.logon(T4CConnection.java:413) at oracle.jdbc.driver.PhysicalConnection.<init>(PhysicalConnection. java:508) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CConnection.<init>(T4CConnection.java:203) at oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CDriverExtension.getConnection(T4CDriverExt ension.java:33) at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.connect(OracleDriver.java:510)
Local fix
Replace the variable in the URL with the actual value
