What replacement products are available?

The following replacement products are available.

How do I check which version I am currently running?

On platforms other than OS/400 and z/OS, run dspmqver, and if that is not found run mqver. If neither command is found, use the operating system commands and utilities to display installed software levels.

On OS/400 run DSPMQMVER, and if that is not found run CALL PGM(QMQM/MQVER). If neither command is found, use GO LICPGM option 10 and press PF11 to view the versions of the installed programs.

On z/OS, look for message CSQY000I in the MSTR joblog to determine your version.

To display the WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition version, run: dspmqsver

Is any information available to help me upgrade to a later version?

The IBM Documentation for IBM MQ includes information to assist you in migrating to a supported version of IBM MQ. IBM MQ for HPE NonStop also provides the ability to migrate back to WebSphere MQ for HP NonStop Server 5.3.1 if necessary:

WebSphere MQ for HP NonStop 5.3.1 queue managers can be migrated to IBM MQ for HPE NonStop 8.1.0. However, existing WebSphere MQ 5.3.x queue managers on other platforms cannot be upgraded directly to the latest IBM MQ version. You must save your queue manager object definitions and their security settings, then manually move existing messages elsewhere or discard them. Install a supported version of IBM MQ, re-create the queue managers, object definitions and security settings, and then move back any messages you relocated.

Can I purchase a support extension for my current version?

Support extensions might be available for WebSphere MQ 5.3.1 for HP NonStop Server an additional fee. To inquire whether extended support is available, contact your local IBM sales representative.

US Customers should contact Customer Support Operations at 1-877-426-6006, option #2. If you provide your IBM customer number, they can quickly find your sales representative.

Customers in other geographies should refer to the IBM directory of worldwide support contacts to find sales contact numbers in your region:

Are the WebSphere MQ 5.3.x clients also out of support?

Yes. The WebSphere MQ 5.3.x clients went out of support at the same time as the WebSphere MQ server on each platform. IBM has also withdrawn the WebSphere MQ for HPE NonStop clients once provided by SupportPacs MAT1 and MQC8.

Is documentation still available for these products?

Yes. WebSphere MQ 5.3.x documentation is available, primarily in PDF form:

WebSphere MQ 5.3.x for HP NonStop Server Documentation

WebSphere MQ for z/OS 5.3.x Documentation

WebSphere MQ 5.3.0 Documentation

Is maintenance still available for these products?

The latest fix packs for WebSphere MQ 5.3.1 for HP NonStop Server on Itanium are available for download:

How do I obtain installation images for these products if I still need them?

Installation images for WebSphere MQ for HP NonStop Server 5.3.1 might still be available from Passport Advantage. Other images are no longer available from Passport Advantage or IBM Shopz.

Is there an IBM MQ trial version available for download?
