Dynamic view of performance
The Performance function for each Storage Family is different. The Performance function is derived from the Storage Family, the device type and varying characteristics (such as high
capacity disk, volumes, RAID schemes, cache, copy function and so on). Storage Modeller works with your input and choices to provide dynamic performance and workload information. Storage
Modeller can help your planning and choice of Storage Family through the use of performance analysis. (You base such analysis on an interval such as Peak IO and so on.) Then, you review
how different options affect service levels and workloads.
The Performance function computes the effect of changes in configuration or workload at the level of the disk subsystem of a storage system. Modeling results are shown at the level at
which the I/O load statistics are entered.
The Performance function can be used to see whether a workload is capable of improved performance on newer hardware, to show growth capabilities and to determine other opportunities for
consideration.
