You can install this release by using either the 32-bit version or the 64-bit version of Installation Manager 1.8. The 64-bit version is required only if other Rational products on the same system are installed and managed by using Installation Manager 64-bit, or if you plan to install another Rational product that requires Installation Manager 64-bit. What's new in this release
New feature level
This release introduces feature level 9. Unless otherwise noted in the descriptions of new features below, it is unnecessary to raise the feature level to 9 to enable the new features.
Suppressing record histories
You can disable the recording of record histories to improve performance and eliminate superfluous data; refer to the following technotes:
This feature requires the database to be raised to feature level to 9.
Web client support for the SQL editor
The web client supports the SQL editor, which was previously supported only on the Windows and Eclipse clients. For instructions on using the editor, refer to tech note 1691398.
In-line record creation
In-line record creation enables you to create new records directly from the query result set pane. For more information, refer to tech note 1692040.
Web client support for editing dynamic lists
The web client supports dynamic list editing (support for this feature was previously limited to the Windows and Eclipse clients). For more information, refer to tech note 1692121.
The _CQ_OSLC_SESSION variable
The session variable _CQ_OSLC_SESSION is set for sessions that are created by the ClearQuest OSLC API. The variable allows ClearQuest hooks to determine if they are being executed in the context of a ClearQuest OSLC call. Refer to technote 1692212 for details.
Support for FIPS-140-2
This release introduces Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 140-2 compliant encryption for ClearQuest (as opposed to LDAP) user authentication. Password encryption is updated to comply with this standard when users change their passwords. This feature is enabled when you raise the database feature level to 9.
SSLv3 disabled for LDAP authentication using SSL
To address an SSLv3 (Secure Socket Layer) protocol vulnerability referred to as a Padding Oracle On Downgraded Legacy Encryption (POODLE) attack, the SSLv3 protocol version has been disabled for LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) authentication using SSL. For details, refer to tech note 1689920.
Enhanced security against password attacks
This release supports enhanced security for ClearQuest authenticated users by locking out a user after a limited number of failed login attempts. You can also configure this feature to limit the number failed login attampts from a host. For instructions, refer to tech note 7044431. This feature requires the database to be raised to feature level 9.

Type-ahead for the web client
The type-ahead feature provides incremental search functionality for the web client. This feature must be configured before clients can use it; for instructions, refer to Technote 7042315.

Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1.2 supports deployment of ClearQuest Web server features with WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server Versions 8.0.x, 8.5.0.x and 8.5.5, If your ClearQuest Web server is deployed on WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server Version 7.x, you must upgrade to Version 8.0.x, 8.5.0.x and 8.5.5. before upgrading ClearQuest to Version 8.0.1.2.

- Using IBM Rational ClearQuest Full-Text Search Administration tool with non-English Windows Operating system
If you are using the IBM Rational ClearQuest Full-Text Search Administration tool (cqtsadmin.pl) on a non-English Windows operating system, you must configure the LANGUAGE environment variable. - Controlling access to the FTP server where ClearQuest attachments are stored
The IBM Rational ClearQuest Attachments 2.x package enables you to store ClearQuest record attachments on an FTP server. To prevent unauthorized browsing of the attachments directory or modification of files, configure the FTP server to limit full directory access to the server administrator. For instructions, refer to Technote 1652492: Restricting access to attachments on a FTP server when using IBM Rational ClearQuest Attachments 2.x Package.

What's New in IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1.2
New platform support
This release adds support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, Update 10.
The Query results view in the ClearQuest Web client includesTree view feature
In the ClearQuest Web client, the tree view feature displays child records of ClearQuest records that are returned by a query. For instructions on using tree view, refer to Technote 1656886 Tree View feature in ClearQuest.
Package updates
This release includes new versions of the following IBM Rational ClearQuest packages which include defect fixes.
- Attachments package V2.2
- EmailPlus package V2.2

Deployment scripts for configuring the ClearQuest Reporting Driver with BIRT server runtime 3.7 and later
This release includes the BIRT deployment scripts deployBIRT.bat and deployBIRT.sh that automate the deployment and configuration steps for BIRT runtime version 3.7 and later. In previous ClearQuest versions, administrators had to perform these steps manually.
The BIRT deployment scripts are available in the following directory locations:
- Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\RationalSDLC\ClearQuest\reports\launcher\birt
- Linux and UNIX:
/opt/IBM/RationalSDLC/ClearQuest/reports/launcher/birt
For information about installing and using these scripts, refer to Technote 1566463: Configuring the ClearQuest Reporting Driver with BIRT server runtime 3.7 (or higher).
Note: These scripts only support deployment and configuration for BIRT server runtime 3.7 or later. IBM Rational ClearQuest and ClearQuest Multisite version 8.0.1.1 introduces the following new features.- Changes to the metaschema version and feature level
This release introduces feature level 8 and database metaschema version 23, which adds support for the following capabilities:
- User hooks for log on and log off events enable you to customize a schema to respond to such events.
- You can specify the ClearQuest client versions that are allowed to log on to a ClearQuest user database.
- The maximum field length for the attachment file name, user name, group name, and database server name has been extended.
- OSLC integrations in a load-balanced ClearQuest web deployment
This release adds support for OSLC integrations in a load-balanced ClearQuest web deployment.

What's New in IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1
IBM Rational ClearQuest and ClearQuest MultiSite 8.0.1 includes updates and new features in the following areas:- ClearQuest Web usability enhancements

- ClearQuest Web integrations enhancements
- Schema designer enhancements
ClearQuest Web usability enhancements
- New implementation of the multi-record update feature
The multirecord-update feature in ClearQuest Web is redesigned and enhanced to improve the efficiency of large-scale changes. This change includes the following notable additions:
- Support for recording state changes
- Ability to run a multirecord update on more than the 100 records that display on a result set page
- Ability to create a query by selecting records from a result set with the Create Query from Selection command
- Implementation of a new user interface
- New Create Query from Selection feature
The Create Query from Selection feature lets you create a new query by selecting a subset of records in a result set. The new query presentation has the same display fields and sort order as the original query. You can use this new feature to select records for a multirecord update operation using the ClearQuest Web.
- Visible feedback on in-progress database modifications
ClearQuest Web includes better visual cues and notifications of inadvertent tab or browser closure. The tab label displays in red font with a preceding asterisk when you have in-progress modifications that are not saved.
A warning dialog box displays when you have in-progress modifications and you attempt to close a tab or browser window, use the back or forward browser buttons, refresh the page, or navigate to a different URL.
- New Save and Close button
A new Save and Close button allows users to save and close a record in a single action.
- Actions that users do not have permission to perform can be hidden by the schema designer.
The schema designer can hide actions that the user cannot perform to streamline user productivity. For more information, refer to the Schema designer enhancements section.
ClearQuest Web security enhancements
ClearQuest 8.0.1 provides the following security enhancements to ensure process and data integrity:- Improved smartcard authentication support for the integration between ClearCase and ClearQuest
The integration between ClearCase and ClearQuest with smart card authentication is supported by the ClearCase Change Management Integration (CMI). ClearCase communicates with ClearQuest through the ClearQuest Web OSLC interface. For more information, refer to Technote 1633122: Configure the base ClearCase-ClearQuest integration to use the Change Management Integration.
- Timely security updates
IBM provides timely security vulnerability updates on the IBM Support home page for Rational ClearQuest, and through security flashes and alerts email.
- Secure email notification with the new SMTP Relay transport in the EmailPlus package
The IBM Rational ClearQuest EmailRelay service implements a private relay service to forward email requests to a server that is registered for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server access. For more information, refer to the Mail relay section in the IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1 knowledge center.
ClearQuest Web integrations enhancements
The addition of OSLC 2.0 consumer support in ClearQuest 8.0.1 enables the following integrations enhancements:
- Prefilling OSLC 2.0 linked records
OSLC 2.0 consumer support in ClearQuest Web enables the configuration of ClearQuest to prefill field values when opening the creation dialogs for associated OSLC 2.0 projects. When a creation dialog displays, values for designated fields in the new record are initialized by using content from configured fields of the initiating ClearQuest record. For more information on prefilling OSLC 2.0 linked records, refer to Using ClearQuest to prefill OSLC 2.0 linked records in the IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1 knowledge center.
- New OSLC link types
New link types are provided as defined in the Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration Change Management Specification Version 2.0. The new link types enable you to define more descriptive relationships between OSLC friends. For more information, refer to Link types in the IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1 knowledge center.
- Support for the OSLC-based integrations between IBM Rational ClearQuest and HP ALM, and between Rational ClearQuest and Atlassian JIRA, through the IBM Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters.
ClearQuest 8.0.1 supports OSLC-based integrations through the IBM Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters. Schema designer enhancements
ClearQuest 8.0.1 includes the following enhancements for the schema designer:
- ratlperl and CQPerl are upgraded.
ratlperl and CQPerl are upgraded to Version 5.16.1. For information about the upgrade, refer to Technote 1639543, What are the potential Perl hook/script upgrade issues with IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1.
- Hide actions that users do not have permission to perform.
The HIDE_ACTIONS schema property enables the schema designer to hide actions that the user cannot perform based on a hook. Hiding actions can reduce the choices presented to the user, making the interface simpler. - Configure immediate or queued email notification
With the EmailPlus package, schema designers can configure the ClearQuest EmailRelay server to deliver email as soon as a ClearQuest record is committed, or queued. For more information, refer to the Mail Relay section in the IBM Rational ClearQuest 8.0.1 knowledge center.
