APAR Error Description / Circumvention
-------------------------------------------------
ADDTCPHTE and CHGTCPHTE convert all host names to upper case
characters whether the name is enclosed in apostrophes or not.
Mixed case host names are necessary only for some cross-platform
applications.
CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE76760' :
-------------------------------
A change has been made that will allow the use of mixed case
host names if it's required by an application. However, most
applications will work correctly with upper case host names.
Refer to the special instructions for this PTF if there is a
specific application requirement for mixed case host names.
CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'SE76760' :
----------------------------------
None.
Activation Instructions
None.
Special Instructions
If mixed case host names are required and your system does not have
jobs using CCSID 5026, run the following command:
ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_TOC_HOSTNAME_CASE_SENSITIVE) LEVEL(*SYS)
Adding this environment variable will not change the case of any
existing host table entries. Only entries added or changed after adding
the environment variable are affected.
*** Please note that using mixed case host names on a system with jobs
using CCSID 5026 can cause unpredictable errors. This is an
unsupported environment for IBM i. ***
Removing the QIBM_TOC_HOSTNAME_CASE_SENSITIVE environment variable will
cause host table entries being added or changed to be converted to all
upper case characters. Host names already in the host table are not
changed.

THE FOLLOWING ARE SUPERSEDED SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS. IF THE SUPERSEDED
PTF HAS ALREADY BEEN APPLIED AND ITS SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FOLLOWED,
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO FOLLOW THAT SPECIAL INSTRUCTION AGAIN.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI68743 :
=================================================
Before applying/remove this PTF:
exits any job which calls API QtocLstNetIfc to let the PTF take
effective.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUPERSEDED PTF SI68599 :
=================================================
After the PTF is applied, it requires a re-login to enable the fix in
the new session.
If the issue has not been experienced, nothing needs to be done.
If the issue has been experienced and the current behavior needs to be
changed, the optional QIBM_TCP_UPDATE_OLD_HOST_TABLE_FILE environment
variable can be added to update /QIBM/USERDATA/OS400/TCPIP/QTOCHOSTS
but not QUSRSYS/QATOCHOST as follows:
ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_TCP_UPDATE_OLD_HOST_TABLE_FILE) VALUE('*NO')
LEVEL(*SYS)
To activate or deactivate the changes with the
QIBM_TCP_UPDATE_OLD_HOST_TABLE_FILE environment variable, either:
a) New sessions must be started
b) Existing sessions must Signoff and signon.
c) Any existing jobs that modifying the HOSTS table must be restarted.
Follow these steps to re-sync data to QUSRSYS/QATOCHOST:
a. RMVENVVAR ENVVAR(QIBM_TCP_UPDATE_OLD_HOST_TABLE_FILE) LEVEL(*SYS)
b. CLRPFM FILE(QUSRSYS/QATOCHOST)
c. Add, change or delete host table entries (after deactivating the
change). Then all data will be re-sync to QUSRSYS/QATOCHOST.
Warning: Any applications that reference the QUSRSYS/QATOCHOST file
directly may not behave properly after this option has been enabled.
