APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-------------------------------------------------
PM Agent code (part of the PM for Power offering) made sure
Collection Services was running by monitoring for it once an
hour and restarting it if necessary.  This function needs to be
maintained now that PM for Power is discontinued.

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'SE75144' :
-------------------------------
A new batch job called QYPSCHK will make sure Collection
Services is running.  This job will run by default. To override
this function and allow Collection Services to remain inactive,
run the following commands from the command line.

1. Add the following environment variable:
ADDENVVAR ENVVAR(QYPSCHK) VALUE('0') LEVEL(*SYS)
2. End Collection Services:
ENDPFRCOL FRCCOLEND(*YES)
3. Restart Collection Services if desired:
STRPFRCOL
4. NOTE: If you do not restart Collection Services in step 3,
you will need to manually end the active QYPSCHK job so it does
not restart Collection Services at the start of the next hour.

To resume the function so it once again monitors for Collection
Services and restarts it if necessary, run the following
commands from the command line.

1. Remove the QYPSCHK environment variable:
RMVENVVAR ENVVAR(QYPSCHK) LEVEL(*SYS)
2. End Collection Services:
ENDPFRCOL FRCCOLEND(*YES)
3. Restart Collection Services:
STRPFRCOL

CIRCUMVENTION FOR APAR 'SE75144' :
----------------------------------
None.

Activation Instructions

None.

Special Instructions

After applying or removing this PTF, Collection Services must be
ended and restarted for the change to take effect.

1. To end Collection Services, run the following command from the
command line:
ENDPFRCOL FRCCOLEND(*YES)

2. To restart Collection Services, run the following command from the
command line:
STRPFRCOL

Before restarting Collection Services, you should consider other
functions that may be using data provided by Collection Services.
Such functions may be impacted when Collection Services is ended. Error
messages may be produced and the affected functions may need to be
restarted.

Examples of functions that are dependent on Collection Services include
Management Central monitors and applications that use the performance
collector APIs QPMWKCOL and QPMLPFRD. If applications are using the
performance collector APIs, you will find server jobs QPMASERV and
QPMACLCT active on your system.

Default Instructions

THIS PTF CAN BE APPLIED IMMEDIATE OR DELAYED.
