APAR Error Description / Circumvention
-----------------------------------------------
An application which uses a Classic JVM and Native JDBC driver
to select and display Hebrew BiDi data works correctly on OS 6.1
with both the Native and Toolbox JDBC drivers, but on OS 7.1 it
works correctly with the Toolbox JDBC driver but displays data
incorrectly with the Native JDBC driver.
The difference between the two OS versions is that when a J9 JVM
is being used (at OS 7.1) the Native JDBC driver uses PASE to do
the translation and PASE does not correctly handle BIDI data
CORRECTION FOR APAR SE66978 :
-----------------------------
When the Native JDBC driver uses a PASE enabled JVM, it relies
on PASE functions to do translation. However, the PASE
translations do not correctly handle BIDI data. The Native JDBC
driver has been changed so that BIDI translations are handled by
the database engine instead of by the JDBC driver.
