APAR Error Description / Circumvention
-----------------------------------------------
When enrolling a user to a Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 domain,
the following issues have been seen.
1. The administration service requires user QAS400NT to be
created and configured with domain admin authority even though
the Windows server running the administration service is
configured a domain controller.
2. A user was not correctly created in the same
Organizational Unit (OU) as the template user with errors
stating the user was not found during a move operation.
3. The User Principal Name (UPN) is not set when creating
users.
CORRECTION FOR APAR SE49393 :
-----------------------------
The issues specified occur because the administration service
has been using outdated Windows APIs which are not taking full
advantage of Active Directory. The administration service has
been enhanced by using ADSI APIs to resolve the issues as noted
below:
1. Any domain controller that can accept user creation
requests will be used instead of only the primary domain
controller.
2. Users will be created directly into the organizational
unit of the template user instead of being created in 'Users'
and then moved.
3. The user principal name will be set when creating users.
