APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
The Line Printer Daemon (LPD) job failed with MSGCPF33F3 "Data
in buffer 4071 exceeds spooled file buffer size" when receiving
certain spooled files from another IBM i System. The failure
occurs whether the spooled files are sent to the receiving IBM i
System using a Remote Output Queue (RMTOUTQ) or the Send TCP/IP
Spooled File (SNDTCPSPLF or LPR) command.

CORRECTION FOR APAR SE49079 :
-----------------------------
The failing spooled files were created using the JTOpen Java
Toolbox SCS3812Writer classes.  At the top of each page, the
operating system inserts formatting commands so the spooled file
can be printed starting at any page and the output will be the
same.  One of these commands is supposed to be a 5-byte Set
Character Set Local ID, x'2BD10381nn', but instead eight bytes
of x'00' were put in to the spooled file without accounting for
the extra 3 bytes.  On very rare occasions this caused too much
data to be put in a spooled file database record, and it is
caught later by the QSPPUTSP program when the file is respooled
or is attempted to be sent to another system using LPR or
SNDNETSPLF.

This PTF does not fix existing spooled files that exhibit this
problem, it only corrects spooled files created after the PTF is
applied.
