APAR Error Description / Circumvention

If the Service Tools LAN adapter used for LAN console is sharing
a line description used by system TCP/IP, IP filter rules loaded
on that line can unexpectedly affect inbound IPv4 traffic from a
LAN console client.

Filter rules could be accidentally created that would block both
telnet and LAN console traffic. If this occurs, recovery may
require a manual IPL and several manual steps.

Filter rules should not block traffic for the Service Tools LAN
adapter, even when it is sharing a line with the system TCP/IP
stack.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA49513 :
-----------------------------
This problem can only occur for IPv4 and does not occur for
IPv6. IPv4 processing of received packets within the system
TCP/IP stack has been updated so that the Service Tools LAN
interface is not affected by IP filter rules.
