APAR Error Description / Circumvention

-----------------------------------------------
In R720, when tracking space in a Geographic Mirroring
configuration is reduced, there is an internal condition that
causes the next vary on attempt of the IASP from a different
session/connection to the system to cause a MSD to occur and
system IPL's.

The problem is really a combination of two events:
First (and the root of the problem) is an issue with decreasing
the amount of geographic mirroring tracking space in R720.
Either an explicit decrease of the amount of tracking space or
since the tracking space is calculated as a percentage of the
overall disk space in the IASP in R720, potentially removing a
disk unit or something along those lines would cause the space
to decrease. This issue with decreasing the amount of tracking
space results in an unexpected exception during the next vary on
which was caught and causes the vary on to fail. The second
piece to this issue is that as part of failing the vary on, an
internal object was destroyed and it just so happened that a
couple of the gates in the internal object were in an
inconsistent state at the time of the destruction and the gate
code throws an exception due to that inconsistency, which caused
the MSD and the system termination.

After the IPL from the above events has completed, everything is
able to be started back up and varied on with full
functionality.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA48024 :
-----------------------------
The condition causing the unexpected exception while decreasing
the amount of tracking space will be corrected.
