APAR Error Description / Circumvention

When the number of I/O slots or storage slots changes the IOP
must be IPLed to pick up the change.

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'MA47460' :
-------------------------------
Apply this PTF to allow automatic recovery from more cases where
the number of I/O slots or storage slots is changed.

If the number of tape devices changes or the type of device
changes the IOP will still need to be IPLed.

This is a PTF for the tape device driver.  To fully activate the PTF
the following steps must be done for all the IOPs with a tape device
attached.

To activate this PTF for an IOP
that will allow VARY ON with RESET(*YES):

1.  Vary off all tape devices attached to the IOP.
2.  Vary on one of the devices under the IOP using:

VRYCFG CFGOBJ(The device) CFGTYPE(*DEV) RESET(*YES)

and other parameters as would normally be done.
3.  Vary on all of the other devices normally.

If it is not possible to vary on with the RESET(*YES) option,
you must IPL the system to activate this PTF.

The system can still run without fully activating this PTF but
the problem being fixed may still occur until the fix is fully
activated.


To ensure that an install from tape will work properly, the system
should be saved after applying this fix.
