APAR Error Description / Circumvention

Hardware Service Manager does not provide an interface for
changing the preferred path device for a tape device used by a
pure virtual partition.

CORRECTION FOR APAR 'MA47105' :

This PTF adds an option to the ioptapepaths advanced analysis
macro to allow the preferred path to be set/changed.

Use the following steps to set the preferred path using the
iotapepaths Advanced analysis macro:

1. From the Use Dedicated Service Tools or System Service
Tools display, select Start a Service Tool.
2. From the Start a Service Tool display, select
Display/Alter/Dump.
3. From the Display/Alter/Dump Output Device display, select
Display/Alter storage.
4. From the Select Data display, select Licensed Internal
Code (LIC) data.
5. From the Select LIC data display, page down and select
Advanced analysis
6. From the Select Advanced Analysis Command, type a 1 in
the option field next to the blank line and enter
iotapepaths as the command.
7. From the Specify Advanced Analysis Options display enter
the tape device resource name associated with the
preferred path you want to set, followed by the parameter
-PREFER to change the preferred path.
