APAR Error Description / Circumvention

When attempting to use a tape device a MSGCPF4371 or a
MSGMCH1668 followed by a MSGCPF4182 may be issued and the device
goes FAILED. The device description can no longer be varied on.
A SRC63A09220 Product Activity Log entry with secondary code
00000039 is logged along with a 2E008101 in the Licensed
Internal Code log.

CORRECTION FOR APAR MA46238 :
-----------------------------
This issue occurs when the drive reports a power on reset, which
causes the device driver to reconfigure the hardware. If the
drive technology is new enough to support multiple paths, the
reconfiguration includes checking the drive for persisted
reservation support. The failure occurs when the drive reports a
media change during this check, and the driver does not recover.
Apply this fix to change the driver to allow a media change
report while the persisted reservation checking is being done.
