Application of this PTF may disable or render ineffective programs that
use system memory addresses not generated by the IBM translator,
including programs that circumvent control technology designed to limit
interactive capacity to purchased levels. This PTF may be a prerequisite

APAR Error Description / Circumvention

On Token Ring lines with active TCP/IP interfaces, temporary
storage is allocated periodically while checking the ARP
(Address Resolution Protocol) cache for duplicate IP addresses
and is not deallocated. The frequency of the check is based on
the ARP cache timeout in the TCP/IP attributes (CHGTCPA) and the
size of the storage is dependent on the number of ARP cache
entries (64 bytes for each entry).
CORRECTION FOR APAR MA40342 :

This PTF prevents future leaks by deallocating the storage
allocated for the ARP cache check. To recover any storage leaked
prior to installing the PTF, TCP/IP must be restarted.
