Abstract
Configuration Information for Oracle StorageTek SL3000
Content
Beginning with Version 7.1.3, IBM® Tivoli® Storage Manager is now IBM Spectrum Protect™. Some applications such as the software fulfillment systems and IBM License Metric Tool use the new product name. However, the software and its product documentation continue to use the Tivoli Storage Manager product name. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see technote 1963634.

Notes:
Library capacity:
56 drives and 5925 slots
Barcode requirements:
Non-labeled cartridges are not supported. All cartridges must have valid barcodes
For LTO media, character 7-8 on the barcode must be:
L3 for LTO-3 RW media, LT for LTO-3 WORM media
L4 for LTO-4 RW media, and LU for LTO-4 WORM media
L5 for LTO-5 RW media, and LV for LTO-5 WORM media
L6 for LTO-6 RW media, and LW for LTO-6 WORM media
L7 for LTO-7 RW media, and LX for LTO-7 WORM media
L8 for LTO-8 RW media, and LY for LTO-8 WORM media
L9 for LTO-9 RW media, and LZ for LTO-9 WORM media
For other media, see the Valid Cartridge Labels section in StorageTek SL3000 Principles of Operation.
Access Expansion Module (AEM) support:
The Access Expansion Module is an add-on frame component for the SL3000 library. The AEM can be on either or both ends of the library, and is designed to provide a number of features to the library.
Fibre/SCSI direct attach will utilize all Import/Export devices on the SL3000 library in a sequential order. The AEM will always be the last Import/Export device sequence.
ACSLS attach can utilize the Import/Export devices by choice. A current limitation of ACSLS 7.3 (latest release) is that it can only perform 42 cartridge exports with one export command. Next version release of ACSLS will eliminate this limitation.

Access Expansion Module (AEM) support:
The Access Expansion Module is an add-on frame component for the SL3000 library. The AEM can be on either or both ends of the library, and is designed to provide a number of features to the library.
- Bulk import/export via its removable 18 arrays (234 total slots available), which looks like a Cartridge Access Port (CAP) to host interfaces.
- Hot swap of a robot within the module.
- Full access to all customer cells when running dual robot without losing capacity (as with a Parking Expansion Module – PEM).
- The AEM can be used currently with both Fibre/SCSI direct attach or by ACSLS control.
