Installing the fan

To install a fan:

1. Position the fan so that the airflow arrow on the fan points toward the rear of the server.
2. Make sure that the fan cable sits in the channel on the side of the fan.
3. Route the fan cable into its slot in the fan bracket top.
4. Insert the fan into the bracket.
5. Make sure that each of the gray soft tabs on the fan is fully seated in its slot in the fan bracket.
6. Connect the fan cable to the system board.
7. Install the air baffle:
   1. Align the air baffle with the slots on the chassis. Then, lower the air baffle into the server.
8. Install the top cover:
   1. Position the cover on top of the server so that approximately one half inch extends from the rear.
   2. Slide the cover toward the front of the server.
   3. Make sure that the cover correctly engages all of the inset tabs on the server.
9. Reconnect the external cables and power cords.
