Text from the audio portion of the hot-swap fan removal movie
To remove a Hot-swap Fan:
-
Remove the Top Cover:
- Push in on the button to release the top cover latch and then rotate it up. The cover will move approximately one-half inch to the rear.
- Lift the cover off and set it aside.

Remove the Hot-swap Fan:
Note that the air baffles have been removed to provide a better view.- Grasp the fan by the finger grips on the sides of the fan and lift it up and out of the server.
- Use the same procedure to remove any additional fans if required.
Note: If you remove a fan with the server running you must install a replacement within 30 seconds or the server will shut down.
