Text from the audio portion of the SAS HDD backplane removal movie

To remove the SAS HDD backplane:

  1. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.

Remove the top cover:

  1. Push in on the button to release the top cover latch and then rotate it up. The cover will move approximately one-half inch to the rear. Lift the cover off and set it aside.

Remove the SAS HDD backplane:

  1. Pull the hard disk drives out of the bay to disengage them from the backplane by pressing up on the release latch at the top of the drive and rotating the handle down to the open position.
  2. Lift up on the backplane bracket to release it from the locking tabs and rotate it towards the rear of the server and then lift it up and disconnect the configuration, power and SAS data cables.
  3. Remove the backplane and set it aside.
