Text from the audio portion of the SAS/SATA HDD backplane removal movie

To remove the SAS/SATA HDD backplane:

  1. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.

Remove the top cover:

  1. Press down firmly on the blue tab on top of the cover and slide it to the rear until it disengages from the chassis.
  2. Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.

Remove the SAS HDD backplane:

  1. Pull the hard disk drives out of the bay to disengage them from the backplane.
  2. Remove fan 4 by lifting the clear tab on the dimm air baffle then grasping the orange tabs on each end of the fan and lifting it up and out of the server.
  3. Use the same procedure to remove fans 5 and 6
  4. Lift the backplane partially out of the server by pulling it toward the rear and then lifting it up, and then disconnect the 2 signal cables and the configuration and power cables.
  5. Remove the backplane and set it aside.
