Text from the audio portion of the SAS/SATA HDD backplane removal movie
To remove the SAS/SATA HDD backplane:
- Turn off the server and all peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the top cover:
- Press down firmly on the blue tab on top of the cover and slide it to the rear until it disengages from the chassis.
- Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Remove the SAS HDD backplane:
- Pull the hard disk drives out of the bay to disengage them from the backplane.
- Remove fan 4 by lifting the clear tab on the dimm air baffle then grasping the orange tabs on each end of the fan and lifting it up and out of the server.
- Use the same procedure to remove fans 5 and 6
- Lift the backplane partially out of the server by pulling it toward the rear and then lifting it up, and then disconnect the 2 signal cables and the configuration and power cables.
- Remove the backplane and set it aside.
