Text from the audio portion of the hot-swap fan removal movie
To remove a hot-swap fan:
Remove the top cover:
- Press down firmly on the blue tab on top of the cover and slide it to the rear until it disengages from the chassis.
- Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Remove the hot-swap fan:
- Lift the clear tab on the dimm air baffle then grasp the orange tabs on each end of the fan and lift it up and out of the server.
Note: you must lift the clear tab on the dimm air baffle only if you are removing fans 3 or 4.
Use the same procedure to remove any additional fans if required.
Note: if you remove a fan with the server running you must install a replacement within 30 seconds or the server will shut down.
